USCCB Catholics in Political Life
"The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions."
The Gospel of life is at the heart of Jesus' message. Lovingly received day after day by the Church, it is to be preached with dauntless fidelity as "good news" to the people of every age and culture.

A Matter of the Heart
A Statement of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on the Thirtieth Anniversary of Roe v. Wade November 12, 2002
Bishop Robert Hermann, St. Louis stated in the St. Louis Review that "Father Jenkins has no excuse for not standing up for a strong Catholic identity at Notre Dame."
The bishop encouraged Notre Dame alumni to "organize the alumni in such a way that funding and students would be withheld until there is a change of direction on the Board of Directors."
"I am quite confident that if there is a change of direction on the part of the board, Father Jenkins will quickly change or leave," wrote the bishop.
Bishop Hermann noted that "there is no better time" for withdrawing donations than during the current weak economy. "I would appeal especially to major donors who love the university enough to withhold donations until there are substantial changes in leadership," he added.from LifesiteNews.com
ReplaceJenkins.com is a national effort consisting of Notre Dame Alumni and financial supporters who believe the University should not honor President Barack Obama given his public actions and commitment to the destruction of innocent human life, in violation of the express teachings of the Catholic Church.
